VSA is the largest city social care charity in the UK, with over 150 years of experience supporting vulnerable children and adults across Aberdeen and beyond. The Role

The Interim Operations Director will play a pivotal role in shaping and delivering VSA’s strategic vision. The postholder will lead the operational management of the organisation’s diverse health and social care services, ensuring excellence in service delivery, regulatory compliance, and sustainable growth.

The successful candidate will be a key member of the Executive Leadership Team, driving innovation, performance, and collaboration across the organisation. Their leadership will directly impact the lives of thousands of individuals and families who rely on VSA’s support.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and oversee the operational delivery of all care services, ensuring they meet the highest standards of quality and safety.
  • Develop and implement in-year and support development of 2026/7 business plans aligned with VSA’s mission and values.
  • Foster a culture of empowerment, inclusion, and continuous improvement across teams.
  • Manage budgets and resources effectively to ensure financial sustainability.
  • Build strong relationships with stakeholders, regulators, and community partners.
  • Champion innovation and co-create solutions that transform lives and communities.

Person Specification

  • Proven executive leadership experience in the social care sector.
  • Strong strategic thinking and operational management skills.
  • Established experience in change management and transformation.
  • Deep understanding of regulatory frameworks and quality standards.
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and people management abilities.
  • Passionate about social impact and aligned with VSA’s core values: Integrity of Care, Empowerment, Co-create Solutions, Perform with Pride, Act Sustainably
