The Organisation

The MS Society is committed to placing people living with multiple sclerosis (MS) at the heart of everything they do. As a trusted voice in the community, they campaign at all levels, fund pioneering research, and provide award-winning support and information, all to improve the lives of over 150,000 people across the UK affected by MS.

By investing in world-leading scientists, the MS Society drives progress in the search for new treatments. They provide individuals access to expert advice and vital services, empowering people to live well with MS. Their advocacy work also ensures that voices are heard, rights are upheld, and no one feels alone.

The MS Society is more than an organisation though. It's a vibrant community made up of people living with MS, their families and friends, carers, healthcare professionals, researchers, volunteers, and campaigners with one goal in mind – A world free from the effects of MS.

About The Role

The MS Society is looking for a Community Fundraiser to join their team, based in the East/North of Scotland. The role involves identifying new opportunities, offering guidance and encouragement to supporters, and ensuring they feel valued every step of the way. The successful candidate will also collaborate with internal teams to develop creative fundraising ideas that boost support in the area.

In this role, you'll play a key part in delivering local fundraising strategies, helping to secure vital income and grow the organisation’s supporter base. You'll assist in identifying new funding opportunities, building relationships with individuals, businesses, and community groups, and raising awareness of the MS Society’s work. Working alongside experienced colleagues, you'll contribute to community events and ensure fundraising activities are well-organised and effective. This role can be shaped around your strengths, with flexibility to focus on the opportunities you believe will have the greatest impact.

About The Candidate

We’re looking for someone who is enthusiastic, proactive, and eager to learn. If you enjoy meeting new people, building relationships, and working as part of a team, this could be the perfect role for you.

While experience in fundraising would be a bonus, it’s not essential. We’re also keen to hear from candidates with backgrounds in customer service, hospitality, retail, or sales — roles where communication, problem-solving, and people skills are key.

The ideal candidate will be a confident communicator, comfortable speaking to individuals and groups, both in person and over the phone. Strong organisational skills will help you manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines, while a positive, can-do attitude will enable you to take initiative and find creative solutions.

Flexibility is important, as no two days will be the same. Above all, we’re looking for someone who’s passionate about making a difference and committed to supporting people affected by MS.

If you’re ready to take your first steps into the world of fundraising, we’d love to hear from you.
