What will you do as Business Development Manager – Corporate Partnerships?

You will lead the proactive business development activity within SAMH’s Corporate Partnerships team. This role is central to identifying and securing new, high-value corporate partnerships across all sectors, aligned with SAMH’s strategic objectives. Working collaboratively with internal teams and external partners, you’ll manage a pipeline of prospects, develop compelling proposals, and establish long-term relationships that generate impactful income for SAMH’s mission.

Key Responsibilities:

Strategic Development and Pipeline Management

  • Lead on developing and managing a business development pipeline of strategic and high-value corporate prospects.
  • Identify and research new funding opportunities across Scotland and the UK.
  • Maintain accurate records on CRM systems and provide analysis to support decision-making.

 

Prospect Engagement and Proposal Development

  • Cultivate relationships with potential partners across private, public, and third sectors.
  • Create bespoke proposals and engaging pitch materials tailored to each prospect.
  • Align SAMH’s offerings with partner priorities to maximise impact and funding.

 

Collaboration and Internal Engagement

  • Work closely with colleagues across fundraising, services, and strategy to ensure joined-up, informed approaches.
  • Liaise with colleagues at Inspire and Mind for UK-wide partnership opportunities.

 

Handover and Stewardship

  • Ensure smooth handover to account managers for newly secured partnerships, maintaining excellent relationship continuity and stewardship.

 

What does SAMH need from you?

  1. Experience:
  • Demonstrable experience of high-quality stakeholder engagement across private, public, and voluntary sectors, ideally in a fundraising or business development role.
  • Proven success in identifying, cultivating, and securing new business or partnership opportunities, preferably within the corporate sector.
  • Track record of working to and exceeding income, sales, or engagement targets in a fast-paced, target-driven environment.
  • Experience in developing tailored proposals, presentations, or pitches to meet the specific needs of prospects and partners.
  • Understanding of corporate fundraising, CSR, sponsorship, or employee engagement initiatives within a business development or charity context.

  • Excellent verbal communication skills, with the ability to present with confidence, negotiate persuasively, and influence decision-makers.
  • Exceptional written communication skills, including experience creating tailored, compelling proposals, reports, or external correspondence.
  • Strong relationship-building skills, with a collaborative approach to working with colleagues, partners, and external stakeholders.
  • High level of organisation and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet tight deadlines.
  • Analytical thinking and strategic insight, using data and trends to inform decision-making and prospect targeting.
